The Culmination of the Cycle

The Culmination of the Cycle

As all the seeds have a cycle, Oporto Adventure Tours has a cycle too. When it seems like the end of a season full of happiness and memories has approached, we are actually doing a restart.

The whole team - the former, the present and the future guides - of Oporto Adventure Tours get out in nature to collect the seeds of oak, strawberry and chestnut trees. It is time to get our hands dirty!

Throughout the next season the freshly sowed seeds are taken care of by everyone who joins our tours, putting in a collective effort to create new beginnings.

They transplant, water and pull out the weeds - basically giving back to nature, Fafião village and the community.

After more than a year full of laughs, adventures, swims, fun, a lot of dirty hands and a big effort to “change the world at an arm’s distance”, the big day arrives. The Plantation Day is the culmination of the cycle - it is all about giving back to nature, taking care of the environment, preserving cultural heritage through local food and wine, and sharing an unforgettable experience.

It is especially important for us as a company to minimize any impact on the nature that is made by our touristic activities.
This year the place chosen for planting the trees was a field that has had a fire. There is something magical about returning life and color to a dead and gray place.

The event ends with something impossible for you to experience in your daily life - the Pasta in a pot. It is the moment for a cultural and traditional experience through the flavors of rich pasta, meat and beans stew cooked on fire. This dish lives in the heart of many countryside Portuguese people as it reminds them of their roots.

We want to thank all our clients helping us to make a difference at an arm’s distance every day in our tours! Thanks to all the team members that put in any kind of effort - physical or emotional - and to the local community that makes us feel like we are a part of it.
